ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Offers ‘Particular Talent or Ability’ tuition rate
The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Board of Trustees recently approved a resolution to grant resident tuition rates to non-Alabama resident, full-time undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens and receive partial or full scholarship awards from ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ for academic, athletics or fine arts talents or abilities they possess at initial enrollment.
The new policy, in accordance with Alabama Act 2013-423, extends to out-of-state students who are awarded Trustee Academic, Trustee Leadership, Athletics, and Fine Arts scholarships for a particular talent or ability.
Trustee Academic scholarships are awarded on the basis of intellectual ability as shown by a student’s ACT score of 21 or higher or SAT score of 980 or higher and high school GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Trustee Leadership scholarships are awarded on the basis of a student’s demonstrated leadership and service in high school and the local community. Trustee Leadership recipients must have a minimum 19 on the ACT or 910 on the SAT.

Athletic scholarships are awarded on the basis of athletic ability as demonstrated by having received a scholarship to participate on a ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Gulf South Conference varsity sports team or the rodeo team.
More information on Athletics scholarships can be obtained on ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s intercollegiate athletics or by contacting the coaches of the sports teams.
Fine Arts scholarships are awarded on the basis musical or theatrical talent as demonstrated by having received a scholarship to be a member of the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Band Program, the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Choir, or ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Theatre.Â
Information on Fine Arts scholarships can be found by contacting the Department of Fine Arts at (205) 652-3510.
ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ already offers in-state tuition to students from Clarke, Jasper, Kemper, Lauderdale, Neshoba, Newton, Noxubee and Winston counties in Mississippi, regardless of whether they have been awarded a scholarship.
