Campers will gain insights into biological and environmental sciencesÂ
The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ is accepting applications for the upcoming ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ BOSS II Summer Camp for rising 12th graders.
Students interested in careers in biological and environmental sciences and medical fields are eligible to apply.
The five-day camp will take place June 5-9 at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s campus in Livingston. There is no application fee. Campers are eligible for a stipend of up to $200 for travel expenses.
At the camp, students will participate in activities centered on biological and environmental sciences, cell and molecular biology and marine biology. Aside from lectures, ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ faculty will assist students in lab sessions, field trips and research projects. Leadership development sessions will be included in the camp curriculum.
ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s Biology Opportunities and Scholarships for Success II program, or BOSS II, is an ambitious effort funded through a $1.5 million grant to the university’s Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences. BOSS II recipients receive annual scholarships of $8,500 that are renewable for up to four years. When possible, stacking other ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ scholarships could further reduce financial obligations for qualified students and their families.
