RT Floyd Manual of Structural Kinesiology

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ professor and athletic trainer Dr. R.T. Floyd has just published a new edition of a textbook that has come to serve as a cornerstone of athletic training, physical education and health science curricula across the nation.

The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has been awarded $6.5 million in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Education for a teacher residency project, Project REACh, that will be led by the Tutwiler College of Education. Project REACh, Residencies for Educating Alabama’s Children, will be a $13-million-dollar project for prospective Alabama’s educators. The funding will be disbursed over a five-year period.
The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has earned accreditation by the Alabama Department of Public Health. Garnering top marks, this accreditation helps ensure that licensure courses offered on campus meet the highest standards and provide exceptional training.
The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has been awarded a $2.4 million grant from Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) to provide nursing student scholarships over the next five years. Project EARN will provide scholarships for up to 50 qualifying students in the Ira D. Pruitt Division of Nursing each semester, with $3,000 awarded up to four semesters.
ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Spring 2020 Commencement Postponed

The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has announced plans for honoring spring graduates at commencement exercises on July 31, held in a hybrid format to allow graduates’ families and friends to watch live online.

The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Board of Trustees has approved the naming of the athletic field on campus in honor of alumnus and trustee Terry J. Bunn of Tuscaloosa. The naming comes as the athletic field and Tiger Stadium undergo major renovations and upgrades planned for the coming months. The most visible upgrade thus far is the new synthetic turf.
The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has announced nearly 700 outstanding undergraduate students named to the President’s List and the Dean’s List for the Spring 2020 academic semester.
Two of the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s annual writing competitions were held online in April, providing scholarships for high school and transfer students to attend ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½. The Kelly Land Essay Scholarship competition provides a total of $2,500 in scholarships, and the James P. Pate Scholarship competition provides $1,500 in scholarships.
ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Research Symposium 2020

The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ will host its ninth annual University Research Symposium (URS) on Tuesday, March 10. Led by the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the event showcases undergraduate and graduate research from ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and a slate of schools across the region.
