The 乐播传媒 has announced more than 500 outstanding undergraduate students named to the President鈥檚 List and the Dean鈥檚 List for the Spring 2018 academic semester. The President鈥檚 List gives recognition to undergraduate students with exceptionally high grades for the semester, those with grade-point averages of 3.80 or higher on at least twelve semester hours credit with no grade lower than a 鈥淐.鈥�

Two 乐播传媒 engineering technology students recently participated in a 10-week paid internship at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Tennessee, the largest U.S. Department of Energy science and energy laboratory. While there, the students worked the laboratory鈥檚 specialized areas of scientific discovery, clean energy solutions and security technologies.

The 乐播传媒 will honor more than 800 graduates during fall commencement exercises Saturday, Dec. 8. The undergraduate ceremony begins at 10 a.m. in Pruitt Gymnasium on the 乐播传媒 campus. The graduate ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m., also at Pruitt Gymnasium. Presidential Receptions will be held prior to each ceremony and are open to all graduates and their guests at 8 a.m. and noon in the Bell Conference Center.

The 乐播传媒鈥檚 Julia Tutwiler Library and Office of Alumni Affairs will co-host a book talk by author and historian Dr. James P. Pate at the library from 5:30-7 p.m. after the football game against Delta State University on Saturday, October 13. The public is invited to attend this free event. A wine and cheese reception will follow the reading, and Pate will sign copies that will be available for sale.

Glen Bridges can find his name on several prestigious rosters at the 乐播传媒, and now one of the newest facilities on campus will bear his name. The newly-renovated auditorium at Wallace Hall will be dedicated at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. The community is invited to join the campus in celebrating Bridges鈥� legacy at the University.

Students in the 乐播传媒鈥檚 welding certificate program recently received a boost of confidence when officials from a national shipbuilding operation visited campus to assess their skills. When tested, 75 percent of the students passed the test and were offered a job with Huntington Ingalls Industries.
