The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Board of Trustees approved at its June 1 quarterly meeting proposed construction plans for facilities at Lake LU for its new fishing team, which will begin competing this year.

Though only a freshman, Caroline McKinley’s adoration of the arts is already blossoming at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½. Last fall, she worked behind the scenes with the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Theatre and performed as a member of the marching band’s color guard.

Through words and deeds, Dr. B.J. Kimbrough’s influence at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ seems to permeate every corner of campus. She’s a dean. She teaches. She’s the university’s chief diversity officer, chairs ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s Diversity Committee and serves on the president’s council.

An upcoming addition to the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½Â campus will provide faculty, students and staff a unique outdoor space suitable for a variety of uses.

To honor the 2023 theme of Black History Month, the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ is spotlighting its students, faculty, staff and a first-time member of the Alabama State Legislature.
Two by two, students from the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ climbed along the eastern side of the Edmund Pettus Bridge, the hilly, 83-year-old Alabama River crossing that’s embedded in the nation’s civil rights story.
Midway between the state capitals of Alabama and Mississippi — keystone sites of the civil rights movement — sits the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ campus. Other locations, namely Birmingham and Atlanta, are easy drives. It’s a stroke of geographic serendipity that ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ student engagement teams want to explore.
As the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ celebrates Black History Month with several events in February, it also will welcome home one of its most influential and historical figures.
The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s College of Business will welcome alumnus Brad Bolton to campus on Feb. 22. Bolton is chairman of the Independent Community of Bankers of America (ICBA) and will speak to students and guests in Bridges Auditorium at Wallace Hall. The talk is open to the community.
By the time fall arrives on the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ campus, Dr. Reenay Rogers and her College of Education colleagues expect their newest endeavor to be worth the excitement it’s generating this winter.
