The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ (ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½) Board of Trustees has selected Dr. Todd G. Fritch as the next president of the institution.
The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ was recently honored with the 2024 Achievement Award for Internal Information/Educational Programs from the Alabama Association of Colleges and Employers (AACE).
A new scholarship endowment will honor a family legacy at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, its namesake the parents of ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ President Ken Tucker. The Dr. Betty Jean and Howard Tucker Endowed Scholarship, endowed at $150,000, is a transformative gift that will provide perpetual support for students for many years to come.

The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s proposal to freeze tuition for the seventh consecutive year has been approved by its board of trustees at their June quarterly meeting. The decision comes as part of the board’s approval of the school’s operating budget for the upcoming fiscal year, and this reaffirms ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s various rankings as one of the best values of any university in the state.

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ is opening its doors to Birmingham-Southern College students by offering transfer assistance through academic and housing scholarships.
To encourage safety on the road before the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s spring break, March 25 through 29, the University Police Department is offering two events: a tire change instructional clinic Wednesday, March 20, from 1-3 p.m. and an impaired driving and Fatal Vision® presentation Thursday, March 21 beginning at 6 p.m. that lasts approximately 60 to 90 minutes.
Visual artist Garland Farwell kicked off a year-long artist-residency, Monday, Feb. 19 at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s Julia Tutwiler Library, with a folk-art exhibit of hex signs, a uniquely American art form and best-known symbol of the Pennsylvania Dutch, interpreted through an African American, southern and rural lens.
This year, the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ community is commemorating the MLK holiday on Monday, Jan. 15, at 2:30 p.m. in collaboration with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Pi Delta Chapter of ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½'s Office of Diversity and Inclusion alongside FBC of Livingston.
