ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ alumna, Shannon Chandler, has been named vice president for institutional advancement at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½.
California natives Steve and Gayle Campora had never heard of the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ or Livingston until their daughter Kayla landed a graduate assistant spot with ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½'s women's basketball team a decade ago. Today, their generosity and involvement are woven into the fabric of the University.
Jason Green came to Livingston with a plan. He wanted to continue his education and earn a bachelor’s degree that would complement the associate’s degree he earned in funeral service education, and he did that. But he says that his experience at Livingston University (now the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½) added more to his life and future than merely two years of higher education. Leaving with a degree under his belt, he says that what stands out to him most is what was under his feet.
A new scholarship endowment will honor a family legacy at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, its namesake the parents of ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ President Ken Tucker. The Dr. Betty Jean and Howard Tucker Endowed Scholarship, endowed at $150,000, is a transformative gift that will provide perpetual support for students for many years to come.
Through a series of providential meetings, Mike Williams, Mayor of Butler, Alabama, and his sister, Patricia Williams Harris, recently partnered with the Alabama Nurses Foundation (ANF) and representatives John Beard, president of the board of trustees, and Dr. John Ziegler, executive director, to gift the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Foundation a $50,000 endowment for the Joan Williams and Alabama Nurses Foundation Nursing Scholarship.
There’s a simple, if not noble, reason why Amelia Vazquez chose to study sociology and criminal justice at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½.
The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Foundation has received notice of a $3 million planned gift that will support student success and academic enrichment. The planned gift from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous is one of the largest in the University’s history.
It’s understandable that Michele Graham Bradford unpacks memories of her late brother as if he were sitting beside her, smiling as she speaks. The recollections flow easily, sincere as the summer day is long. “He meant the world to us,†she said, “but every year we find out what he meant to other people, as well. He was just a great man.â€
