A new scholarship endowment will honor a family legacy at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, its namesake the parents of ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ President Ken Tucker. The Dr. Betty Jean and Howard Tucker Endowed Scholarship, endowed at $150,000, is a transformative gift that will provide perpetual support for students for many years to come.
Few individuals know as much about nursing education at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ over the past five decades as Lynn Lashley does. Her journey reflects the program's full evolution, from being a member of the inaugural class of then-Livingston University's Associate Degree in Nursing program to her current role as a part-time retention specialist in the Ira D. Pruitt Division of Nursing.
Creating a warm, supportive environment that fosters student success has always been integral to the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ culture. The university has recently strengthened its commitment by partnering with Caring Campus, a national initiative developed by the Institute for Evidenced-Based Change (IEBC), a non-profit organization designed to enhance students’ sense of belonging and increase student retention and success.

Nick Davis, an art professor at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, will have three DIY sculpture kits on display in a national juried exhibition at the Floyd Center for the Arts in Virginia this summer.
At the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, Donnie Cobb and technology education are so intertwined that it is impossible not to mention both in the same breath. Cobb is retiring as chair of the Division of Engineering and Technology at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, after more than three decades at his alma mater. Lucas Johnson, an assistant professor of physics and astronomy, received the 2024 William E. Gilbert Award for Outstanding Teaching for his efforts during one of ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s May 3 commencement exercises. Given annually by the student body, the Gilbert Award recognizes outstanding teaching and excellence in undergraduate classroom instruction. 
Dr. Uchenna Akpom
Longtime ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ business professor Dr. Uchenna Akpom was recently named director of the University’s Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Rural Business program. The first of its kind degree program was introduced two years ago at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and features relevant courses that focus on critical issues as well as strategies and solutions related to rural businesses and designed to offer innovative solutions to global rural business challenges.
More than a slogan or tagline, there really is something about The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ that drew Hannah and Josh Millwood back to their alma mater.
