The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Board of Trustees approved at its June 1 quarterly meeting proposed construction plans for facilities at Lake LU for its new fishing team, which will begin competing this year. 
The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s International Programs will host its annual Chinese New Year Celebration on Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the Bell Conference Center on campus, beginning at 6 p.m.

The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has been recognized with high marks in a national review conducted by University of Southern California’s Race and Equity Center. The study included 506 public, non-specialty four-year colleges and universities across the nation with a focus on the opportunities provided for minority students to be successful in higher education.

The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has announced more than 500 outstanding undergraduate students named to the President’s List and the Dean’s List for the Spring 2018 academic semester. The President’s List gives recognition to undergraduate students with exceptionally high grades for the semester, those with grade-point averages of 3.80 or higher on at least twelve semester hours credit with no grade lower than a “C.â€
The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has announced more than 500 outstanding undergraduate students named to the President’s List and the Dean’s List for the Fall 2018 academic semester. Students on the list are from 21 states across the U.S. and abroad.
Livingston State Farm agent Cody Mordecai has funded a new scholarship opportunity for ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ first generation students from Sumter, Marengo, Greene, Pickens or Choctaw counties through The FLi Society, a student organization established to raise the profile of the first-generation population at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and offer support and encouragement to those students.

Two ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ engineering technology students recently participated in a 10-week paid internship at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Tennessee, the largest U.S. Department of Energy science and energy laboratory. While there, the students worked the laboratory’s specialized areas of scientific discovery, clean energy solutions and security technologies.

The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ will honor more than 800 graduates during fall commencement exercises Saturday, Dec. 8. The undergraduate ceremony begins at 10 a.m. in Pruitt Gymnasium on the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ campus. The graduate ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m., also at Pruitt Gymnasium. Presidential Receptions will be held prior to each ceremony and are open to all graduates and their guests at 8 a.m. and noon in the Bell Conference Center.

The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has been ranked as the best among colleges and universities in Alabama in a national listing of 2019 College & University rankings. The WalletHub report ranking includes both public four-year schools and private, not-for-profit, four-year schools nationwide, and ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ is the highest ranking school in Alabama.

On Tuesday, Nov. 13, and Wednesday, Nov. 14 ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends will come together for the second annual ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Giving Day, a two-day fundraising drive to benefit initiatives across campus and future Tigers.
